If you are travelling from abroad, we hope you will have time to explore the area while you are here. We have put together a few suggestions, depending on how much time you have.

We've selected a few choice destinations which we hope will inspire you. Travel times are estimated from Château La Beaumetane.

Provence

For exploring Provence, we recommend renting a car, particularly if you would like to visit the smaller villages and vineyards.

The château is located in Provence, with many villages and towns to explore nearby. Some of the best-known include Gordes, Roussillon, Ménerbes, Les Baux-de-Provence, Cavaillon and Salon-de-Provence. The region is also home to many local vineyards where you can enjoy wine tastings.

Aix-en-Provence (~30 minutes)

Aix is the closest city to the château. It is a lovely place to spend a day exploring the old town, visiting the markets, having lunch, and stopping at one of its many cafés.

Avignon (~45 minutes)

Avignon is known for the Palais des Papes, its medieval centre and the Pont d’Avignon. It is an easy day trip from the château.

Cassis & the Calanques (~45–60 minutes)

Cassis is a small seaside town with a harbor, restaurants and access to the Calanques. You can take a boat trip, enjoy one of the beautiful hikes in the area or spend the day swimming and having lunch by the water. Accessible by train.

Saint-Tropez (~2 hours by car)

Saint-Tropez is around two hours from the château and has restaurants, shops and nearby beaches, including Pampelonne. Traffic can be quite heavy in summer, so if you would like to visit, it may be worth staying overnight.

Nice & the Côte d’Azur (~2–2.5 hours by car)

Nice is where Maxime and Katya fell in love and is a great base from which to explore the Côte d’Azur. From there, you can easily visit Antibes, Cannes, Èze, Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Menton.

The regional trains run along the coast, making it easy to travel between many of these towns without a car.

Italian Riviera

If you have more time and would like to continue into Italy, the Italian Riviera is also within reach.

• Genoa — ~4 hours by car
• Camogli — ~4.5 hours by car
• Portofino — ~4.5–5 hours by car

Getting Around

Aix-en-Provence TGV station is about 20 minutes from the château, with high-speed trains connecting to Paris, Avignon, Marseille, Nice.

There is also a regional train along the Mediterranean coast, making it easy to travel between Marseille, Toulon, Cannes, Antibes and Nice.

If you are planning to visit the Côte d’Azur, please note that the Monaco Grand Prix will take place from 3–6 June 2027. Accommodation around Monaco and Nice is likely to be in high demand and more expensive during this period, so we recommend booking early.
